A mother, a father, and four children now have a safe place to sleep, and it happened because people like you showed up.

When we shared the story of this family 3 months ago, we asked you to picture something many of us never have to think about: a home that doesn’t keep you safe. The family was living in a fragile wooden house with very little space. The children slept, lived, and bathed in a place that was hard to look at, and even harder to stand in. Seeing it in person was even harder than any photo.

Today, we get to tell you how the story changed.

The Worthy Home Project is an ongoing mission to build safe homes for families in need. This house in the Dominican Republic is our first. The next may be in the same country, or it may be somewhere like Pakistan. Wherever it is, the goal is the same: to give families the dignity of a secure home to live.

It Started With Water

Before we could lay a foundation, we hit our first obstacle: we needed water to mix cement, and there was none nearby. So we called a water truck, got it in place, and the work began.

It was not an easy build. Our team worked through the heat, under the sun, and sometimes in the rain. Materials arrived late. There were days when progress felt slow and the work was simply tiring. But every day, people kept showing up. Our co-founder was right in the middle of it too, cutting timber with a chainsaw alongside the crew. Step by step, we mixed cement, prepared the flooring, and watched the walls take shape. What had been a plan on paper became a real home.

A Moment with Ice Cream

Somewhere in the middle of all that work came a moment none of us expected to matter so much. These children had never tasted ice cream. Not once. So we brought some.

Watching their faces as they took that first bite said more than any fundraising update could. It was pure joy, the kind every child should get to feel. It was about kids getting to be kids, and about a mother who can finally care for them without fear.

Their Words

When the home was ready, we heard from the family themselves. The mother thanked everyone who donated toward their home. Her husband spoke with deep emotion:

“Thank you, because this is a blessing that not everyone receives, and I am grateful. And thank God, because He sent it to us. We need some appliances, but God knows when He will send them, so I am grateful. This is like a dream. For me, even more so.”

Hearing that, every long day on the site felt worth it.

Thank You

This home exists because of the people who gave, worked, prayed, and encouraged us along the way. Whether you donated a few dollars, shared our page, sent building materials, or prayed for this family, you were part of it. What looked small in your hands became something real in the hands of God.

We started this project believing that faith has to move beyond words, and you proved it right alongside us.

What’s Next

This family’s story isn’t over. They still need a few household appliances, and if you’d like to help with that, we would love to hear from you. And this is only the first home. There are other families waiting, and we are already looking ahead to the next one. Stay tuned, because we would love to have you with us again.

Thank you for being part of this journey. May God bless you for your generosity and your love.
