Helping Families Survive the Floods in Pakistan

It’s been heartbreaking to watch what is happening in Pakistan right now. Since late June, non-stop monsoon rains have caused massive flooding across the country. With the death toll sadly passing 100 and thousands of families forced out of their homes, we knew we couldn't just sit by. The floods have left entire neighborhoods stranded and hungry. Our ministry team packed up and headed straight into the flood-hit areas to help out and show God's love.

Wading Through the Water

Getting to the people who needed help wasn't easy. The floods ruined the roads, so our volunteers had to literally roll up their sleeves and step right into the deep waters to reach families who were cut off. We helped moms carry their heavy bags of supplies, and put little kids on shoulders and backs to carry them safely across the flooded plains. We just wanted to make sure nobody was left stuck or having to face the rising water alone.

Hot Meals and Clean Drinking Water

When a flood like this happens, safe drinking water is usually the first thing to go. People were so thirsty and exhausted by the time we reached them. We set up our supplies right there along the water banks. Our team cooked up big pots of fresh rice, scooped it into bags, and handed out warm meals in containers to the men, women, and kids who gathered around. We also brought in lots of bottled water. It was so moving to just sit down and personally help the little kids get clean, safe drinking water after everything they've been through.

Standing With Them

It’s going to take some time for these towns to clean up and rebuild. But they aren't doing it by themselves. Every bottle of water we handed out, every meal we shared, and every child we carried out of the deep waters was our way of showing these families that Jesus loves them and that they aren't forgotten. We are so thankful for our volunteers doing the heavy lifting on the ground, and for everyone praying for Pakistan right now.
