“The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.” — Psalm 121:5-6
Seasons change, but God’s protective care remains constant. Following a bitterly cold winter, the intense heatwave has now become a severe challenge for our ministry branch in Pakistan. Temperatures have soared to a staggering 43 degrees Celsius. For the precious little children under our care, this isn't just uncomfortable; it is a health risk that threatens their ability to learn, play, and focus on their spiritual walk.
As a ministry, we believe that caring for the soul often begins with attending to immediate physical needs. Many of you may remember how God faithfully provided through our community during the bitter winter months, allowing us to supply warm clothing and safe space heaters to these same precious children. Just as He called us to bring warmth in the freezing cold, He has now called us to be the "shade on the right hand" that the Psalmist speaks of, reflecting God’s protection to those who need it most in this scorching heat.
To answer this call and create a sanctuary of cool air for the children, our leadership team had to think creatively. Relying on the local electrical grid is often unreliable and expensive, especially during peak summer months.
By utilizing the very thing causing the intense heat—the sun—we were able to build a sustainable, off-grid solution. We purchased and installed a complete solar power system, consisting of two large solar panels, a high-capacity battery, an inverter to manage the power, and two powerful fans. This setup allows us to harness God’s creation to serve His children, turning the sun heat into a gentle, constant breeze.
In James 1:27, the scripture defines "pure and undefiled religion" as visiting orphans and widows in their affliction. Affliction comes in many forms—sometimes it is spiritual warfare, and sometimes it is simply the grinding extreme weather without relief.
To watch these little ones, who have already endured so much loss, find comfort under the cooling fans is a beautiful reminder of what practical love looks like in every season. This initiative does more than just lower the temperature in the room; it elevates the spirits of the children, telling them that they are seen, valued, and loved—by their caretakers in Pakistan, by their partners in the US, and ultimately, by their Father in Heaven.
We invite you to celebrate this news of practical love with us. Through winter's chill and summer's fire, the Lord has indeed been their keeper.
